As free movement of goods is a cornerstone of the single market, the European Commission has put mechanisms in place, the so called New Approach and Global Approach Directives and Regulations, with the aim to prevent new barriers to trade and to achieve mutual recognition and technical harmonization.
The New Approach Directives and Regulations are only harmonizing essential requirements, designed to cover all hazards related to the public interest that the Directive or Regulation intends to protect. The concerned products have to satisfy those essential requirements before being placed on the market and put into service.
Before placing a product on the EEA (European Economic Area) market, the manufacturer must subject the product to a conformity assessment procedure provided for in the applicable Directive or Regulation, with the view to affixing the CE marking.
Several New Approach Directives and Regulations only foresee in third party conformity assessment, being carried out by notified bodies. Those notified bodies are designated by the Member States among bodies that fulfil the requirements of the Directive or Regulation and that are established on their territory.
TECHNIGAS has been designated as notified body by the Belgian Ministry of Economic Affairs for the
- Gas Appliance Regulation (EU) 2016/426,
- Boiler Efficiency directive 92/42/EEC, including Commission Regulation (EU) 813/2013.
TECHNIGAS is accredited by BELAC according to ISO 17065.
